My holiday spirit came a little early this year as it is not even December and I already have my Christmas phone case on. In my defense, Thanksgiving came early and really threw me off. But why should I apologize; its the most wonderful time of the year, why not get started as soon as you want!
Mary Parker and I went Christmas tree hunting last night and after a long search, the friendly Tree Elves at Ponce City Market here in Atlanta helped us pick the perfect fir. What better way to decorate the tree than with a holiday cocktail in hand!
I have made Rosemary Bourbon before and it’s just ideal for this time of year. It is very easy to make, you simply stick some rosemary sprigs in a decent bottle of bourbon (I use Four Roses) and leave them in for a couple weeks. I would suggest removing the sprigs and then drink the bourbon over ice to sip, or in a cocktail like this one!
I thought I’d use the Rosemary Bourbon we had on hand and make a mule of sorts. We simply subbed the bourbon for vodka and added a festive rosemary sprig and brandied cherry for garnish. I must admit this is not the most creative cocktail I have ever come up with, but the rosemary flavor and the garnish will really get you in the holiday spirit (pun always intended).
Try one (or a few) of these while you’re decorating your tree or having a holiday get together! Cheers to almost December!
